(Beanless) Cilantro Lime Turkey Chili



2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 medium yellow onion
2 tsp minced garlic
salt, to taste
2 lbs lean ground turkey
42 oz diced tomato (canned)
14 oz of water
1 tbsp chili powder
1/2 tbsp cracked pepper
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
5 tbsp hot sauce
juice from 1 lime
1/2 jalapeno, finely chopped
handful of cilantro chopped
sour cream (optional)


Heat a Dutch oven on medium-high.
Add olive oil.
When oil begins to shimmer, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Heat for around 2 minutes, or until onion has softened.
Add turkey and a generous amount of salt and cook until browned.
Add all other ingredients (except cilantro) and bring to a boil. Stir occasionally.
Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Stir occasionally.
Remove from heat and add chopped cilantro.
Serve with a slice of lime, extra cilantro, and a dollop of sour cream (if desired).
